Are you ready to rock? Air guitarists the world over prepare to have your world transformed. No longer will your windmill thrashing be silent! With the suitably ludicrous skull and crossbones belt buckle sensor on your waist, the mini rock amp clipped alongside, and all important plectrum in your hand, you can now thrash away, and actually play up to some of the world’s greatest rock anthems. As you ‘play’ your air guitar and the plectrum passes in front of the death buckle, a chord from the track is played through the amp. Whether you’re thrashing out ‘Smoke on the Water’ or ‘Ace of Spades’, it doesn’t matter if you’re rubbish at guitar, as long as you thrash in time, you’ll sound as mad and dangerous as the great rock guitarists of all time (well, within reason). The rock-tastic tracks included with the kit are ‘Iron Man’, ‘Smoke on the Water’, ‘Ace of Spades’, ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘More than a Feeling’ and five other currently ‘undiscovered’ tracks. Being a Rock Amp, the volume goes all the way up to 11 (ten is just sooo pop), and if you want to go for full on cacophony, you can plug the amp into your own hi-fi and really annoy the neighbours. Alternatively you can plug in headphones and leave the paint on the walls - but that’s not very ‘metal’ is it?

Let’s face it, audio tapes were rubbish. Yes, you could compile party mixes and pilfer the top 40 off the radio, but times change and the thought of waiting an eternity for a C90 to rewind or untangling a twisted C90 is about as appealing as listening to Chico duetting with Slipknot. So thank goodness you can digitize the music trapped on your old cassettes with the miraculous USB Cassette Deck.

The other day we decided to get Salvador Dali, Barbarella and Mr Spock to create an interactive digital audio sculpture. Sadly, for one reason or another, all three celebs were unavailable. But this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Zoundz beats anything they could come up with hands down.
This totally bizarre music-making gizmo is set to become one of the most engrossing desktop playthings in history, as it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen or heard.
In fact, trying to describe Zoundz is a bit like trying to describe sausage meat through the medium of dance, but we’ll give it a go. Basically Zoundz involves moving various pawn-like pieces around a base to create weird and wonderful music and generate mesmerising light shows.

We all need some sort of alarm to claw ourselves from the depths of sleep, but for many of us an incessant digital beep is not the sound of choice. In steps the iPod Alarm Clock to save the day. Now you can easily set your alarm to wake you with whatever your favourite song of the moment is - though perhaps not ‘Wake me up before you go,go’ - there are limits after all. You can easily set the alarm on your iPod to wake you with a specific Playlist, Album or Song, the Alarm Clock has an all important nine minute ‘Snooze’ (i.e. leave me the hell alone, this dream is more important than punctuality) function, and is adjustable so that it will fit more or less the whole family of iPods. It looks like a funked up traditional alarm clock, and the speakers are in the ‘bells’ on the top of the unit. It’s mains powered, so you’ll have no flat battery or recharging problems, and we reckon it’s the alarm clock for the iPod generation. Wake up to something more tuneful than a bell or a beep, and considerably less depressing than the news.
