Let’s be honest, TV is the greatest invention ever. A rather sweeping statement when you consider some of the other contenders, but you can’t watch X-Factor, SpongeBob, 24 and the latest series of The Sopranos on an internal combustion engine or a flushing toilet, can you?

Indeed, TV is now so ridiculously entertaining, with so many fantastic digital channels, it’s difficult keeping up with your favourite shows. Yes, you can show-off and invest in a Sky+ box, but you have to keep paying for that even after you’ve shelled out for the unit itself. Then of course there’s Freeview, with its impressive range of freebie digital channels. But you can’t do all that pause/rewind live TV, record two channels simultaneously malarkey with that, can you? Well, yes, you can if you get hold of the amazing Topfield PVR.

This ingenious little box of tricks is essentially two Freeview digiboxes and a multifunctional 250GB hard drive in one. This means that as well as receiving loads of spectacularly captivating digital channels you can do all those fancy-pants Sky+ recording tricks without any subscription fees or unsightly dishes.

Running out of juice when you’re chatting on your mobile, battling aliens on your PSP or listening to your iPod is one of the most annoying things known to mankind. Well it’s not, but it’s irritating nonetheless. Thankfully portable gizmos are rechargeable, so you merely plug them into the nearest socket and wait.

But what do you do when you’re nowhere near a power source? Well it just so happens that, unless you’re reading this from the Planet Tharg, you’re always near a power source: the sun.

Handheld video cameras are great, but as the name suggests you need to hold them. With your hands. And that’s fine when you’re recording dad dozing, baby crawling and the best man making a fool of himself. It’s not so great, however, when you’re careering down a hill on your mountain bike, whooshing down the piste on your snowboard or holding three pints in one hand and a bag of pork scratchings in the other.

Key chains and bag chains have become the must-have fashion accessories for the jet set and propeller set alike. Weird dolls and bizarre Japanese characters are all very well, but you can’t exactly engage with them much, which is where this dinky mini Digital Photo-frame key ring steps in. With 8MB of internal memory and Luddite-friendly software, this neat piece of electronic chic will hold and display up to 31 of your favourite photos. Camera phones, apart from being about as useful as wings on a chicken, will only display the terrible pictures you managed to take on the phone itself, and not your masterpieces from home and hols that you shot with a real camera.

The Digital Photo Frame Keyring has a very good quality screen, and you can choose from manual shuffle or automatic slide show to show-off your snaps at the click of a button wherever you are. The internal battery will charge from any USB port, so simply plug it in when you’re at your desk for a juice up. Transferring them to and from your key-ring is simple whether in a PC or Mac. Now you’ll always have snaps of your hols, your partner, your pet or your kid to hand, without having to drag your camera about with you.
